Sensata Technologies' Vision Sensors Target Operator Safety and Awareness in Auto AftermarketVision Sensors Coupled with Pressure Sensors Strengthens Sensata Offerings for Automotive Aftermarket

LAS VEGAS, Nev., Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Sensata Technologies (www.sensata.com) today at SEMA broadened the application of their vehicle vision sensors for automotive safety to aftermarket vehicle safety and operator awareness systems. The company will display these aftermarket sensor applications for motor homes, military and law-enforcement vehicles, forklifts, trucks, and other industrial equipment throughout the week at booth #50202.

Sensata's ACM100 camera module is based on the IM103 CMOS image sensor. The module has unsurpassed wide dynamic range (up to 120 db) enabled by Sensata's Autobrite(R) technology. It can accurately capture visual information during extreme dark and bright light conditions for on- and off- road applications.

The IM103's spectral range is sensitive to both visible and near infrared (NIR) wavelengths enabling the camera to capture images that are unseen by the human eye but present in low light. This capability far exceeds traditional imagers allowing commercial camera systems to "see" in dramatically changing lighting conditions common in both day and night operation.

For example, these camera systems installed in heavy construction vehicles provide the operator better situational awareness, resulting in safer operation. The benefits of the system are especially evident at night when low lighting might make it difficult or impossible to see with the human eye or with conventional imagers.

In addition to the aftermarket vision sensors, Sensata Technologies supplies the automotive customization market with pressure sensors ideally suited for aftermarket performance exhaust, fuel injection and manifold systems.

Sensata Technologies' proprietary electronic design, combined with rugged packaging, has been developed for heavy-duty industrial applications and high- cycle performance conditions where greater pressure, vibration and overall stress on equipment might otherwise compromise the performance and longevity of systems.

"Performance demands in the industrial and performance aftermarket are so much higher than in the OEM market that conventional sensors just can't meet the manufacturers design specifications for them." said Sara Faustino, Global Aftermarket Systems Marketing Manager for Sensata Technologies. "We know how critical accurate and stable sensors are to achieving the performance expectations in these markets."

The company will be available for comment during the SEMA show at booth #50202. For more information about the company or their full line of technologies for the trucking industry, please call 888-438-2214, or visit www.sensata.com/pressure.
