Subaru A 'Green' Sponsor at 2008 Philadephia Flower Show- Subaru to feature 'Green Roof' in display -

CHERRY HILL, N.J., Feb. 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Subaru of America, Inc. returns for a seventh year as a sponsor of this year's Philadelphia Flower Show, March 2-9, 2008, at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

"Subaru owners have a natural affinity to the outdoors and also to horticulture," said Tim Mahoney, chief marketing officer for Subaru of America. "So it's a natural fit for us to be associated with flower shows, and given that we have been based in the Delaware valley for 40 years, the Philadelphia Flower Show is particularly fitting for us."

The theme for this year's Flower Show is "Jazz It Up," and Subaru intends to do just that with a "green roof" and an all-new 2009 Subaru Forester Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV), in its concourse display. A featured speaker will discuss "green roofs" and their contributions to the environment during a scheduled session in the "Subaru Gardner's Studio" at the show. The 2008 Subaru Tribeca will also be on display in a space designed by EP Henry. Giveaways include Jazzy flower seed mix and autographed copies of Jamie Durie's Inspired to Subaru test-drive participants.

Subaru is well known for its commitment to the environment; from the manufacturing plant in Indiana to the vehicles it produces. The Subaru plant is recognized as the first U.S. auto plant to achieve zero-landfill status, with all its waste being reused, recycled or utilized in a waste-to-energy program to generate electricity for the city of Indianapolis.

The plant is also a designated backyard wildlife habitat. Deer, coyotes, beavers, blue herons, geese and many other animals live there in peaceful coexistence with the Subaru plant. Recently, American bald eagles have also been seen near of the six ponds on the Subaru plant site.

Just last year, the Subaru plant was awarded the U.S. EPA's Gold Achievement Award for Industrial Recycling as a top achiever in the agency's WasteWise program.

Subaru also manufactures PZEV (Partial Zero Emissions Vehicles) certified Legacy, Outback and Forester models, available for sale anywhere in the U.S. The PZEV certified, normally aspirated, Subaru Legacy, Outback and Forester models are SmartWay(TM) certified by the EPA. To date, Subaru has sold more than 100,000 Subaru PZEV vehicles, which have 90 percent cleaner emissions than the average new vehicle.
