AUBURN HILLS, Mich., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Emitec Inc. has appointed Claus Brustle president of North American operations, effective April 1, 2008. With key technical experience at Porsche AG, Mercury Marine and Schaeffler KG, Brustle brings more than 25 years of automotive and marine powertrain engineering and leadership expertise to Emitec. Brustle succeeds current president, Mike Kerby, who has been elected to the newly created position of strategic development officer. In this key role, Kerby will ensure a seamless executive transition and the continued high level of service and quality Emitec customers expect. With his deep understanding of Emitec's exhaust aftertreatment and evaporative emissions technologies, Brustle will be a driving force in providing strategic and innovative emission solutions for Emitec's current and potential customers. Brustle will work out of Emitec's North American headquarters in Auburn Hills, Mich. Before joining Emitec, Brustle served at Schaeffler KG as vice president, research and development Engine Systems Division INA, Germany, where he was responsible for worldwide product development activities. Prior to this position, he served for five years as vice president, research and development at Mercury Marine, United States, where he was responsible for all worldwide product development activities and methodologies of engines, transmissions and electronics. Additionally, Brustle demonstrated his leadership and engineering skills through 16 years in various management positions at Porsche AG, Germany, where he specialized in new engine concepts and their industrialization, high-performance and racing engine development, and advanced powertrain engineering. His professional career started as an application and development engineer at Garrett AiResearch in the United States and Germany, developing turbocharging systems for European OEMs. Brustle is a graduate of the University of Karlsruhe, Germany, and holds a master's degree in mechanical engineering.
