Cummins President and Chief Operating Officer Joe Loughrey to Kick-Off Great Lakes Manufacturing Forum


DETROIT, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- The Great Lakes Manufacturing Council today announced that Joe Loughrey, president and chief operating officer of Cummins Inc., will be the kick-off speaker at its Manufacturing Forum on July 9 at the Cleveland Key Center Marriott. Cummins is the world's largest independent diesel engine manufacturer.

"Cummins has a very compelling story of manufacturing success in the Great Lakes Region and globally," said Ed Wolking, Jr., president of the Great Lakes Manufacturing Council. Loughrey has worked for Cummins since 1974 becoming president and COO in May 2005. Throughout his career, Loughrey has championed a disciplined culture in which employees work together to create common tools and processes to solve complex business challenges. Loughrey is also credited with restoring the company's engine business to profitability. He took a business that was losing $100 million annually and helped turn it into an operation that has set company records for profitability. Based in Columbus, Indiana, Cummins has grown into a Fortune 250 company.
