HUGHES Telematics President Erik Goldman to Deliver Keynote at Telematics Detroit 2008Goldman to address the largest-ever conference gathering on The Forces Driving Growth in the Telematics Industry

ATLANTA, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Erik Goldman, president of HUGHES Telematics, a pioneer in end-to-end telematics solutions, will deliver the keynote address to a record-size gathering at Telematics Update's 2008 Telematics Detroit conference on May 22, 2008 in Novi, Michigan. The keynote will focus on The Forces Driving Growth in the Telematics Industry.

Goldman will offer his view on the convergence of forces that have led to the industry's rapid expansion and acceptance. "More so than at any time in the history of the telematics industry, we are responding to customer demand," says Goldman. "Consumers, manufacturers and dealers all understand the considerable value added by a telematics system. But other variables, including the affordability of equipment and technology, and the increasing demand for pairing devices like MP3 players, cell phones and PDAs to vehicles, are equally as important. The stars are in alignment."

Goldman will also expand on numerous trends in the marketplace, such as evolving business models, which now allow for non-traditional, transaction- based services, and broader customer expectations across the board.

Manufacturers and dealers also will benefit. "By providing customers with various forms of support through connection to the vehicle, CRM is greatly enhanced," says Goldman. "Imagine you're driving in an isolated area and your 'check engine' light suddenly turns on. Telematics make it possible for your dealer's service advisor to remotely interrogate your vehicle, analyze the car's diagnostic information and give you an immediate diagnosis. It's all done over the air, through the telematics control unit."

In addition to delivering the keynote at the conference, Goldman has been nominated for Telematics Update's Telematics Leadership Award. This nomination affirms the idea that visionary leadership like his, and the influential role HUGHES Telematics plays in the industry, are key factors in driving the telematics world to the next level.

HUGHES Telematics was also nominated for this year's Best Embedded Telematics Service award. As the only independent end-to-end telematics service provider, HUGHES Telematics offers a unique breadth and depth of services complemented by a comprehensive services roadmap. The awards ceremony will be on May 20, 2008, prior to the opening of the conference.
