Traffic.com Helps Travelers Avoid Fourth of July Traffic JamsOver Three Million Drivers Adopt All-In-One Commuting Solution

CHICAGO, June 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Traffic.com, a NAVTEQ brand and a leading source of traffic solutions for consumers, provides a free all-in-one commute management solution for traveling this Fourth of July weekend. Three million drivers have already processed nearly seven million routing requests to help them make the best decisions about the best time to leave and the fastest route to take.

Traffic.com's launch of the popular "check your drive time" feature earlier this year provides customizable traffic information during this travel weekend and beyond. With "check your drive time," drivers simply type in where they are and where they want to go. The real-time traffic solution processes nearly 1.5 million routes per month and instantly presents the driver with two options: the fastest route based on real-time traffic data and the shortest route based on distance. Included with route details are complete door-to-door driving directions with current conditions, accidents, construction, and delays along each roadway.

The customizable solution also lets drivers create an alternate route using the interactive traffic map. Users can select a highlighted route and drag it to an alternate roadway anywhere on the map. The custom drive is then instantly recalculated with alerts and detailed driving directions. Since July Fourth is one of the busiest periods for highway travel, it is a good idea to set up alternate routes in advance.

For many cities, drivers can also click on a live traffic camera video to see the conditions at key points along the way.

For drivers on the go, MyTraffic personalized alerts can be scheduled whenever they are needed and received however is most convenient -- by email, voice, or SMS. "It's never been this easy to get the traffic information needed to plan the fastest and most efficient way to any destination," says Barry J. Glick, vice president, consumer markets for NAVTEQ.
